Why We're Here:

  • You know you have health risk factors in your life, and you know that you need to make some heart-healthy changes.

  • You've tried making changes before, and you know how hard it is to maintain them.

  • You've done some research, but there's too much information out there (especially on the Web!). You don't know which of those many pieces are right for you.

  • You tell yourself that you're going to get around to doing it, "real soon", but life is complicated - you go to work every day, take care of your family, live your life.

This is the challenge. Heart disease is serious business. There is much we can do to deal with heart disease or its risk factors and to take better care of ourselves - and thrive in spite of it.

This is why we created the Cardiance® training programs.
We can help you to --

  • Decide whether it's time for a change.
  • Decide which changes are right for you.
  • Develop a personal plan of action to make those changes.
  • Implement your changes.
  • Maintain your changes and continue to grow with them.

Our job is to help you make a personal transformation in your life which will change the way you look and feel, as well as in your approach to others, to yourself, and to your life. Join with others on the same path, for mutual support, encouragement, and success.

The Heart Survival™ Training Programs

The Heart Survival™ program is a comprehensive, 8-10 week, interactive group workshop that focuses on dramatically increasing each individual's personal awareness of the behavioral factors related to cardiac risk.

This comprehensive program of study and self-examination gives participants the opportunity to identify the ways in which your particular lifestyle and behavior have contributed to your heart disease. We provide you with the tools to change your habits and lifestyle, reduce your risk, and live a more fulfilling life.

Participants succeed by placing their health and well-being as your top priority and learning to change your life, leaving out what is harmful and substituting what is healthy. Since each person's program is developed specifically for their own life and needs, following a personalized program can become a way of life.

Because each person begins the change process at a different motivational and decision point, a personal program is developed to to reduce your own risk(s), one that fits with your own needs, philosophies, and lifestyle.

  • We focus specifically on reducing behavioral risk factors that are in your control - stress, diet, exercise, medications, substance use or abuse, social support, anger mangement, relationships, sex, and more.

  • We help you to make important decisions about the direction to take, and then assist you in making the changes you've chosen.

  • We facilitate discussions around the dozens of questions that arise when deciding how to handle the life changes necessitated by heart disease and its symptoms.

The Training Program, and the follow-up groups that continue after the end of the formal training, operates as an extension of the physicians' ongoing treatment of their patients.

In the Follow-Up Program, you are a member of you own team and brainstorm about different ideas (how do others do it?), and how to broaden and sustain heart-healthy lifestyle changes. No one is isolated in trying to meet their lifestyle challenge.

Confidential feedback can also be provided to the physician about your progress, in order to enhance the effectiveness of your overall heart treatment program.

Follow-Up Support and Teleconferences

We know that making a change (e.g., taking off the weight) is only 'half the battle'. Maintaining the changes is often an even bigger challenge.

Graduates of the Cardiance™ programs will be able to enroll in follow-up support groups to help you sustain the change. These groups will:

  • Have access to fellow group members via our own (private) mailing lists.
  • Have the opportunity to participate in special teleconference calls, such as interviews and discussions with experts in the field.

  • Participate in special, issue-focused teleclass presentations on relevant issues and member concerns.

Should You Enroll?

The challenge of dealing with a disease has been called a "dangerous opportunity". The disease can kill you, or you can choose to:

  • "Wake up to life" (awareness),
  • Learn to deal with it (mastery),
  • Develop a greater sense of satisfaction and serenity.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us for more information and assistance deciding when, and how, to enroll.
